We host three kite events each year! Please see below for dates and more information about these and other events!

Winter 2026

Beach Markers 1-20 | Starts 10 AM | Free!

Love is in the air and so are the kites! Watch the sky explode with color as kites of all shapes and sizes soar above the beach. Bring your own kite and join in or just relax and enjoy the show! Weather permitting.

There may even be a night show with night kites!

Visit us in person at Fly It Port A on Friday (02/13) or Saturday (02/14) during our business hours (9am - 5pm).

We’re located at 405 W Ave G, right in the heart of Port Aransas.

One entry per person. Must be 18 or older to participate. Winners will be notified by PHONE/EMAIL on Sunday (02/15) morning, and you can pick up your prize at your convenience during our business hours.

A $200 gift certificate to Fly It Port A is up for grabs!

FAQs

1) Where should we stay? We think this is an excellent guide for Places to Stay.

2) What are the rules for driving/parking on the beach? You can drive on the beach. The speed limit is 15mph. If you plan to park, you will need a beach parking permit. More info here!

3) Where can I obtain a beach parking permit? For $12, you can purchase a permit at the Port Aransas Welcome Center, Lowe's Grocery store, and most of the convenience stores.

4) What if I use a wheelchair? You will be able to see the kites while taking a drive in a vehicle or golf cart. You can also check into reserving the City's beach-going wheelchair.

5) Are there Kite Festivals any other time of year in Port A? Yes! The Spring Kite Festival is always the Saturday of Mother's Day Weekend and the Fall Kite Festival is always the Saturday of Columbus/Indigenous People Day.
